Description is too vague and may have been blended with another benchmark description. Mark not found.

At the indicated location (.2 miles from the main crossroads) along Pratt Road, which appears to have been the route of Highway 89 when the mark was set, the roadway is now 24 feet wide, there is a 30 foot Right of Way along the south side of the road and a somewhat narrower Right of Way along the north side of the road. A culvert under the road and both right of ways connects concrete lined irrigation ditches approximately 4 feet wide running to the north and south. I couldn't see the diameter of the culvert without trespassing but assume that there wouldn't be two 3 foot culverts for a 4 foot ditch. There is a headwall at the south end of the culvert, but no disk in the center of it. Approximately .1 miles further east is another possible location and at that location there is a very large single culvert with a headwall on the south side, but no mark was evident in the center of it. If that large culvert is the location, then the mark was probably lost when it replaced the two 3 foot culverts described.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in 1992. * This is a POSTED BENCH MARK height. Code A indicates a distribution rate of 0.0 thru 1.0 mm/km.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
