Still there and now is 4 yrs.

Found laying flat on the ground. This probably qualifies as destroyed, but it has been laying here for over 3 years!

found this along Hgy 91

This benchmark has been uprooted, and for all practical uses has been destroyed. If put back, it would get the new moniker of E55 RESET.

This is located at the southeast corner of Scenic Blvd. and Highway 91.

It is interesting to see how much concrete went into making these stable.

One canot assume that these old BM's will be replaced. Our experience is that they are 99% not replaced, but most are merely left lying close to where they
were dislodged, see pic's

Notes:
1.Mesquite built a new post office on Mesquite Blvd. in 1994. The office in the description is still maintained as a postal annex.
2. Benchmark was uprooted during the construction of a new road and bridge that was built to give access to senic arizona. Mark is currently laying on its side at the intersection hwy 91 and that road.
3. Coordinates obtained with Magellen Gold GPS. WAAS inabled, 5 strong signals, 3 medium, 5 minute average.

Found this on a weekend trip to Mesquite. Current road construction in the vicinity has uprooted the concrete pillar. We found it lying on its side next to the intersection. I can only assume that it will be replaced before construction is finished.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
