Bob and I went out with tape measures, compass, shovels and probes. Bob dug up a lot of sand but we never found the station mark. The top of Reference Mark 3 has been sheared from the post and the disk could not be located. Reference Mark 4 could not be found since the single directional clue was confusing. No boulders could be seen on the surface.

Couldn't find Station Mark or Reference Mark 4. Either they are under the sand or have been destroyed. Reference mark 3's post is still there but the plate (disk) is missing. Coordinates for Reference 3 is N36 37.952 W121 48.016 The communications pole is next to it.

Couldn't find station mark or reference marks. May have been destroyed or covered with soil and vegetation. Possibly found 4x4 witness post. Apparent recent professional surveying at site. See photos.

Witness post(?), two new survey markers. Is square cloth pegged to ground a marker for aerial survey?

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in March 1994. The horizontal coordinates are valid at the epoch date displayed above. The epoch date for horizontal control is a decimal equivalence of Year/Month/Day.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
