DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1959 (GWM) THE STATION IS ABOUT 6 MILES NORTHEAST OF STOTTS CITY AND 3 MILES NORTHWEST OF MT. VERNON ON COUNTY ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY IN THE SE 1/4 OF SEC. 15, T. 28 N., AND R. 28 W. IT IS 21 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF A GRAVELED ROAD, 21 FEET WEST OF A WEST GATEPOST, 4 FEET NORTH OF A FENCE, AND 3 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT IS FLUSH AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SALEM 1959. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 39 AND COUNTY ROAD Y AT THE NORTHEAST EDGE OF MT. VERNON, GO WEST ON A PAVED ROAD FOR 1.6 MILES TO A BRIDGE AND THE END OF PAVEMENT. CONTINUE WEST ON THE GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.35 MILE TO A GRAVELED SIDE ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTH ON THE GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.8 MILE TO A GRAVELED T-ROAD. TURN LEFT AND GO WEST ON THE GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.4 MILE TO THE SALEM CHURCH ON THE RIGHT. CONTINUE WEST ON THE GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.2 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT. TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THE STATION, GO WEST ON THE GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.25 MILE TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS 23 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE GRAVELED ROAD, 16 FEET WEST OF A 24 INCH TREE, AND 1 FOOT NORTH OF AN EAST GATEPOST. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 2 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SALEM NO 1 1959. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS SET IN AN EAST-WEST FENCE LINE 11 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE GRAVELED ROAD, AND 8 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF THE ENTRANCE TO A FIELD. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 2 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SALEM NO 2 1959. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS 14 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF A GRAVELED ROAD, 10 FEET NORTHEAST OF A POWER POLE, 1 FOOT NORTH OF A WIRE FENCE, AND 2 FEET EAST OF A WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 4 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED SALEM 1959. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 1 METERS.
