This Benchmark we found today on a drive around Kanab.

Found benchmark on our way through Utah from AZ to NV.

We found this one while driving down from British Columbia, Canada to Phoenix. Beautiful countryside.

It was harder to find to web site for this one than the acutal benchmark.

just trucking along cacheing thanks to the old farts I got this one too :)

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1938 (FGJ) AN ODD CONICAL RED TOPPED MOUNTAIN PEAK LOCALLY KNOWN AS MOLLYS NIPPLE OR MOLLIES NIPPLE AND SHOWN AS SUCH ON SOME MAPS. THIS PEAK, VISIBLE FOR MILES IN ALL DIRECTIONS, IS ABOUT 10 MILES SOUTH OF THE EAST BOUNDARY OF BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK, ABOUT 30 MILES WEST OF THE COLORADO RIVER AND ABOUT 35 MILES NE OF KANAB, UTAH. IT IS THE ONLY CONE-SHAPED PEAK IN THAT VICINITY. IT WAS NOT VISITED.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in November 1997.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
