How fun to find this bridge! 4 benchmarks right on it, and 2 more nearby. This one is painted over, but still legible (barely).

Unfortunately this was the last of the nearby benchmarks that I had time to hunt down.

Second of 6 we were looking for.

3rd benchmark of 6 for the day.

As I stated in the log for HS3095: Wooo hooo! Four benchmarks on a single bridge! Found them all.

HS3095, HS3096, HS3097, and HS3098 are four benchmarks all on the same side of the bridge on William Street near 18th Street. This cement guardrail and the disks are over 71 years old and are in excellent condition. This is the 2nd one from the north end.

AT SAN JOSE, ON EAST WILLIAM STREET, BETWEEN 16TH AND 18TH STREET, AT A CONCRETE BRIDGE OVER COYOTE CREEK, IN THE TOP OF THE EAST GUARD RAIL, DIRECTLY OVER THE NORTH PIER, 17.5 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE STREET, AND ABOUT 4 FEET HIGHER THAN THE STREET.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1967 RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
