Oaknest and I found this benchmark while in the area grabbing a bagel and coffee at the nearby Noah's.

Easy access and easy find.

Returned and found it easily!

Not sure how I missed this one. Well actually, I need to remember that the coordinates are rarely accurate. My GPSr said it was in the middle of Bascom Ave. Well I will have to head back tomorrow after work.

Found the Benchmark. Not at this date though, I forget the date.

The white BM letters on the cement casting gave this away from afar. Looks to be rather dirty, but in good shape nonetheless.

Found today the first Benchmark - pictures will follow
Best regards from Bremen/Germany

It's still there. Easily spotted.

Spotted this from a good 30-40' away thanks to the typical paint circle that drew my attention as intended.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in February 1993.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
