I believe this benchmark destroyed. There is a beautiful new bridge, built and dedicated in March 2007. It looks like the benchmark would be in the middle of the street, but since it was on the bridge support, I think this one is gone.

Found it. Still in good shape except now it has white markings around it. Before I found the actual benchmark I spied a control point. The location of the control point seemed to be where my GPS was taking me. There's actually two of them nearby. The first one is a rivet with a one inch washer that has "BKF Control" stamped into it and is located about 10 feet away from the actual mark towards Guadalupe Ave/Willow Glen Way Liquor Store. The second one is about 12-15 feet away from the actual mark towards Guadalupe Ave/Willow Glen Way Liquor Store and is also a rivet, except the washer is about two inches in diamter and is rusted. The actual rivet has the letters "AGM" stamped into the top with triangles between each letter. Nice find!

A nice short walk. This is my first benchmark! IN good condition, circled in pink spray paint.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
