Walked the half mile from Rainbow Ave. Paint says BM 1084 but disc is T1077.

I used garyhenry's coordinates to approach this one. I walked 0.5 mile along the railroad tracks from Rainbow Ave. Found the benchmark as described, in fair condition.

Camera is pointing down, and east. Due to the condition of this BM (fair), the stampings are hard to read.

My Garmin eTrex Vista was .10 of a mile off and I finally reread the description and biked on to Regnart Creek and found it and posting the above coordinates. But, it's pretty easy to find. Half way between McClellan Road and Rainbow.

Disk in good condition. Best approach I could find was to walk down the dirt service road that parallels the tracks starting from McClellan Road. Distance .6 miles.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1967 3.5 MI N FROM SARATOGA. 2.0 MILES NORTH ALONG SUNNYVALE-SARATOGA ROAD FROM THE POST OFFICE AT SARATOGA, THENCE 1.5 MILES NORTHWEST ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD, 0.45 MILE NORTHWEST OF THE CROSSING OF RAINBOW DRIVE, IN THE TOP OF THE NORTHEAST END OF THE SOUTHEAST CONCRETE ABUTMENT OF A RAILROAD BRIDGE OVER REGNART CREEK, 6.8 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST RAIL, 1.4 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE NORTHEAST END OF THE ABUTMENT, AND ABOUT 1 FOOT LOWER THAN THE TRACK.

  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
