As I was debating whether to hop the fence to search for this benchmark, Dan drove up in his California Water Service truck. After he offered to give me a tour of the facility I spotted the disc almost immediately. He was very accomodating and explained a little about how the operation works. Thanks,
Dan

Things have changed a little since 2006. A wood fence and gate have been installed with a lock. You can look over the fence, but the position of the pipe doesn't allow you to see the Mark from the gate. I wasn't willing to hop the fence to see the Mark, so I'm calling this a DNF.

I hopped over the little wood fence and took two steps before noticing the no trespassing/loitering sign, but I think it's probably meant to keep out troublemakers and kids rather than people doing somethign harmless and costructive like looking for the benchmark. :) Mark is in good condition.

Found it as described on top of a well casing on the lot next to 480 Bryant Ave, Mountain View, CA.

There's nothing in the perimter preventing access to the benchmark location, but as payakoi has noted, there's a "NO LOITERING OR TRESPASSING" sign on a control box just west of the benchmark.

Above coordinates were taken with two different GPSr's. The Garmin said W 122° 04.443 but it kept drifting a bit. I chose the Magellan's as it was not drifting.

The benchmark is in good condition.

Drove right past the lot at first, then found it after turning around and driving down the street again. The mark was right where it was supposed to be.

darrenk13's coordinates took me right to the mark. As I was going, I noticed a sign on the tiny building that says no trespassing or loitering.

Neat little spot surrounded by suburbia.

Easy find at an interesting piece of infrastructure around which the residential area has grown.

Easy to find. Prominently labelled R 873 RESET 1964. It's on water department property, but not fenced, and not posted against trespassing.

The coords got me close and the description was good. The square block is very easy to see from the road although I did not see the nursery hot house.
