THE STATION IS LOCATED NEAR THE BEACON HILL TANK (A WOODEN WATER STORAGE TANK OF THE EAST BAY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT) ON A KNOLL ALONG THE CREST OF THE SAN LEANDRO HILLS, AIRLINE ABOUT 2 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF MILLS COLLEGE, 1-1/2 MILES NORTH OF OAK KNOLL NAVAL HOSPITAL, 0.2 MILE WEST-NORTHWEST OF AIRWAY BEACON 1A, AND 0.05 MILE NORTHEAST OF SKYLINE BOULEVARD. TAKE THE LEFT FORK AND GO NORTHWEST 0.1 MILE TO THE BEACON HILL TANK AND THE STATION. THE STATION MARK IS A COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY TRIANGULATION STATION DISK STAMPED BEACON SA 2 1948 SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. IT IS 41.8 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHWEST SIDE OF THE WATER TANK, 45.3 FEET WEST OF THE WEST CORNER OF THE CONCRETE OUTLET BOX OF THE TANK, AND 2.7 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. REFERENCE MARK NUMBER 3 IS A COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY AZIMUTH MARK DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST THAT PROJECTS 1 INCH ABOVE THE GROUND AND IS ABOUT 8 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION MARK. IT WAS FOUND STAMPED B SA 2 R.M. 3 1948 AND WAS RESTAMPED BEACON SA 2 R.M. 3 1948 ON THIS DATE. Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in March 1994. The horizontal coordinates are valid at the epoch date displayed above. The epoch date for horizontal control is a decimal equivalence of Year/Month/Day.
  • The orthometric height was scaled from a topographic map.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
