Found while on vacation in OC

Found while visiting from Massachusetts.

..I'm going to go w/ "Found in Poor Condition" as would probably be reported by NGS, as stem could still be used to make measurements....plus there isn't the confusion as with the mark just to the south!

HU1478 and MD border are just beyond fence in the background

Found on our big trip to the east coast.

Monument and stem are there, disk is not. I judge this to be destroyed (by Geocaching standards). Same for the no-PID ex-mark near the opposite corner of the fence surrounding Fenwick Island Lighthouse.

photoHU0380 - no disk to be found
photoHU0380 - no disk on the SW corner monument, either

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
