Mark is solid and in good condition.

The disk is located on a concrete structure described in 1972 and 1992 as a bridge abutment, but it is easy to see how this description could be misleading. The structure abuts the east end of the Pimmet run bridge - that's the end closest to Chain Bridge, and it's on the left side of the road when facing Chain Bridge - but then it turns to the left to parallel Chain Bridge Road as it continues northwest toward McLean. The disk is about 6 feet behind a guard rail, about 4 feet from a 'No Parking' sign, about 6 feet from a manhole located in the brush and about 8 feet from Vepco power pole EJ10, which has a streetlight at its top.

The datasheet says the stamping reads V 100 Reset 100 and the mark logo is PBPP. In fact, the stamping reads V 100 P.B.&P.P. Reset 1971, and the disk is U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Bench Mark disk.

This benchmark is on the N side of the Route 120 (Glebe Road) bridge over Pimmit Run. The benchmark will be obvious when you begin to take the path that goes under the North side of the East end of the bridge.
