I was pretty confident this was there, but it took about 20 minutes of searching. There is no witness post, and the reference mark nails were not found. (There were stumps indicating some trees in the area had been cut down, so that may explain my inability to find the RMs.) I finally spotted a displaced stake and some bits of aerial target material, which led me to the location, described as follows.

Description from 1976 gets you to the general area. There is a place to park on the south side of Yates Ford Road, which is where you want to be.

Station is described as being at the top of the hill. It is more near the top of the eastern slope. It is also located about 30 feet south of a cluster of trees standing at the top of the road embankment. It is also roughly halfway between two imaginary overhead lines - one halfway between the two sets of powerlines, and the other being the centerline of the western set of powerlines.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in November 1994.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
