I'm heading to Springhill, TN for work again. Taking a few days to get there. Sort of a caching / benchmark vacation since I've been busy with work prior. Today is the first day of this trip.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1956 AT PORTSMOUTH. AT PORTSMOUTH, ABOUT 0.6 MILE WEST ALONG SECOND STREET (U.S. HIGHWAY 52) FROM THE CITY HALL, AT THE CROSSING OF HIGHWAY AND FLOODWALL, 12 FEET SOUTH OF SOUTH CURB OF HIGHWAY, SET VERTICALLY 2.8 FEET ABOVE GROUND IN THE WEST FACE OF THE SOUTH CONCRETE ABUTMENT OF FLOOD WALL GATE AND 2 1/2 FEET ABOVE LEVEL OF SIDE WALK.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
