THIS WAS A GREAT FIND WHILE HEADED UP TO THE MOGA 2007 EVENT THIS WEEKEND.
I LOOKED FOR SEVERAL OF THE TRANSCONTINENTAL ARC AND FOUND A FEW WHILE IN THE AREA.
MARK IS IN GREAT SHAPE.
THESE ARE THE ONES I LIKE TO FIND.

An easy find but the most exciting of the weekend! This is the oldest monumented station that I have visited. The couple who live and farm there were out hooking a trailer to a pickup and they showed me where the 1880 triangulation station and reference mark 3 were located. The lady got the barn broom and swept off the new grass cuttings. Super service! She also said that she had been told that this was the highest point in Morgan county. The Warrensburg sandstone does appear old enough for 1880 even though the chisled date is 1897. I did not search for RM 4 as I did not want to overstay my welcome with these kind folks.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in February 2000.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991. WARNING-Repeat measurements at this control monument indicate possible vertical movement.
  • The X, Y, and Z were computed from the position and the ellipsoidal ht.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The ellipsoidal height was determined by GPS observations and is referenced to NAD 83.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
