Cleaning off my desk, am finding all sorts of things that was not taken care of. This is a benchmark that I found some time ago. So happy to be getting it logged.

Found 1/21/07 at 12:45pm with F1reFly. First Benchmark find. Overall find #99. GPS had us on the other side of the road in the snow... That was fun. Also parked by pulling off the road, which was ill-advised with the snow/ice/mud and my small car. Had a bit of a time getting back on the road.

Found in good condition.

Yo Adrian, We found it!

Just west of a driveway sitting on a concrete pillar.

The disc is in good condition, but the pillar itself is very loose in the ground and looks like it may have been hit by a automobile.

TEAM DUCK has been here. The benchmark still has the date 1940 on it, and it sits on top of a square concrete post right next to someones driveway.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
