DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1925 (WM) AT LUND, ON LEVEL GROUND 190 METERS (623 FEET) NORTHWEST OF THE UNION PACIFIC DEPOT. STATION IS MARKED BY A STANDARD DISK STATION MARK SET IN A CONCRETE MONUMENT 18 INCHES SQUARE AND 40 INCHES DEEP. UNDERGROUND STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK STATION MARK SET IN A SMALL CEMENT BLOCK 4 INCHES BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE SURFACE MARK. LUND U.S.B.M. IS 116.575 METERS (382.46 FEET) FROM STATION. LUND B.M.Q 8 IS 198.573 METERS (651.48 FEET) DISTANT.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1938 (FGJ) STATION IS ON THE LEVEL GROUND ABOUT 700 FEET WNW OF THE UNION PACIFIC DEPOT AT LUND. IT IS ABOUT 600 FEET WSW OF THE TWO WATER TANKS AND ABOUT 35 YARDS EAST OF THE TRACK ROAD LEADING TO THE LOADING PENS. IT LIES JUST ABOUT AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE MAIN ENTRANCE IN THE FRONT OF THE DEPOT. LUND IS A RAILROAD JUNCTION 30 MILES NW OF CEDAR CITY, UTAH. REACHED FROM THE DEPOT AT LUND BY GOING SSW 0.1 MILE TO THE GRADE CROSSING, CROSS TRACKS AND BEAR RIGHT ON THE TRACK ROAD TOWARDS THE LOADING PENS FOR 0.18 MILE TO STATION. AZIMUTH MARK IS 3 FEET WEST OF THE WESTERN END OF THE LOADING PENS. U.S.B.M. IS A SQUARE GRANITE POST WITH A SQUARE HOLE IN TOP. U.S.G.S.BM IS AN IRON PIPE WITH CAP. STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN TOP OF A CONCRETE POST 18 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION. AN OLD REFERENCE MARK WAS ABOUT 30 METERS NORTH OF THE STATION, BUT HAS BEEN BROKEN OFF FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. LUND B.M.Q 8 (1925), HAS BEEN DESTROYED, THE WATER TANK WAS MOVED. AZIMUTH MARK MENTIONED ABOVE ESTABLISHED IN 1938.

REFERENCE MARK NO. 2--STANDARD USC AND GS TABLET STAMPED LUND NO 2 1938 CENTERED IN CONC. POST. NOTE--ON TABLET 1 IS STAMPED OVER 2. REFERENCE MARK NO. 3--STANDARD USGS REFERENCE MARK TABLET STAMPED LUND 1938 NO 3 1971 SET FIRMLY TO TOP OF A COPPER-COATED ROD INSIDE A PIECE OF SOIL PIPE. AZIMUTH MARK--STANDARD AZIMUTH MARK TABLET STAMPED LUND 1938 CENTERED IN CONC. POST.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in November 1997.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
