Took a walk down the RR track Went up throu the fence. Found this guy.Paint job still stands out.

Third of three benchmarks found while waiting for my trailer on this wet, windy, and cold afternoon.

N 38° 47.163 W 121° 14.534

The published coordinates for this benchmark were spot-on--my GPSr was only a few points off. It was made easier to see by being circled by bright pink paint. The only other benchmark I have logged (JS4612) was also circled with this paint, so I thought my morning's benchmarking was going to be easy, but it turned out that this one was the only one of the four highlighted. (I also logged JS0754, JS0753, and JS0752.)

As well as the pink circle, the designation 'G1200' was also painted on the surrounding rock.

Control Text

  • ITRF positions are available for this station. The horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in April 2000. This is a SPECIAL STATUS position. See SPECIAL STATUS under the DATUM ITEM on the data sheet items page. The horizontal coordinates are valid at the epoch date displayed above. The epoch date for horizontal control is a decimal equivalence of Year/Month/Day.
  • The orthometric height was determined by GPS observations and a high-resolution geoid model using precise GPS observation and processing techniques.
  • The X, Y, and Z were computed from the position and the ellipsoidal ht.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The ellipsoidal height was determined by GPS observations and is referenced to NAD 83.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
