Second find for the day. This one is right behind our shop. Coordinates are off but description is fairly accurate except the road is no longer there, its been removed. My readings N38 48.029 W121 13.715

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1969 4.8 MI NE FROM ROSEVILLE. 4.8 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT ROSEVILLE, AT THE CROSSING OF AN ASPHALT ROAD (CROSSING NO. 111.4), IN THE TOP OF A LARGE GRANITE OUTCROP WHICH PROJECTS ABOUT 1 1/2 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, 20.5 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH RAIL OF THE WEST BOUND TRACK, 79 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 59 FEET EAST OF A POWER POLE WITH A TRANSFORMER, 4.0 FEET EAST OF A GUY WIRE ANCHOR IN AN OUTCROP, 7.3 FEET SOUTH OF A FENCE, AND ABOUT 1 1/2 FEET LOWER THAN THE TRACK.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
