Staying at the nearby Embassy Suites and took a walk that night and was fortunate enough to see this lift bridge in action and saw a ferry pass under it. I took some night shots of the towers and the blinking red light is the benchmark. :)

Given that the benchmark is the red light on top of the towetr, I can't say that I actually laid eyes on this one, but I did find a marker in the roadway below.

When I attempted to find this benchmark (and JS4547) I was unaware that it was atop the tower. I found this marker, thinking it might be the benchmark. I then spent about an hour trying to find JS4547. That'll teach me to do my research *before* I hit the road. :-(

Benchmark is THE RED LIGHT ON TOP OF THE SOUTH TOWER OF THE WEST LIFT-SPAN OF THE M STREET BRIDGE. Bridge is now known as the Tower Bridge and M Street is now known as Capitol Mall and Folsom Blvd. (See JS4547)
