I saw this today while Geocaching and filming this long procession of police vehicles. The bridge and tower seem to be in good shape.

A grand old bridge still in use.

Staying at the nearby Embassy Suites and took a walk that night and was fortunate enough to see this lift bridge in action and saw a ferry pass under it. I took some night shots of the towers and the blinking red light is the benchmark. :)

Think about how long this bridge has been in operation.

Found it!

Found on a walk over the bridge.

Out in Old Sac today. Got a great shot of the Tower Bridge with both towers. I always enjoy when I discover a benchmark that I've passed many times before without even knowing.

Lunch break during meetings, I walked over and around this area. Such a neat old landmark.

I'm going to log this one (of two) because I've been over this bridge about a thousand times in my lifetime... then I started geocaching (and benchmarking!)

Actually found this one by accident while trying to find the JS 4547!

Walked and driven over this bridge many a time going to Raley field to watch the River Cats play ball.

Found the pair of towers this lovely thanksgiving day. it was beautiful out and there was a turkey day bike ride going on!

Found this location on the towers. Jasc the Brat and the Schooltch4daz.

Found its location, who would know? Schooltch4daz and the Brat.

Found this #3 on WebCam Cache. Bell rang while crossing bridge, gate swung closed behind me and I got to see the giant CHAIN that operates the bridge - Unreal. Way cool - front row seat. cj1

I always like coming out here on the bridge. Lot of scuffing on this benchmark.

This and JS4547 made a nice double as I arrived in Sacramento for a short visit. You really have to look close in daylight to see the lights.

Jeo was here
At least close. Found this one while visiting the red light district

This and JS4547 make a nice double although it would be nice if they had painted it a tolerable color. Maybe they'll get it right the next time.

Got it late at night while working through Sacramento's Second Web Cam cache. Still like the original color better. Thanks 47Dad47. Pictures to follow soon.

Another one - yeah! It takes a while to notice them.

Yay, I found it, my first benchmark! Hoping it is one of many more because these things are EVERYWHERE. I just need to get the right search image in my brain to see them.

This haaaaddd to be a benchmark. We stayed at the Delta King for two nights and saw lots of Old Town sites.

Found this one as part of Sacramento's Second Webcam Cache. We, too, found the marker in the sidewalk (see picture). Thanks for the fun!

In the sidewalk below the light that is the actual benchmark.

Found this after logging Giant Bike Chain cache.

[This entry was edited by Team Libra on Monday, March 22, 2004 at 8:33:00 PM.]

Given that the benchmark is the red light on top of the towetr, I can't say that I actually laid eyes on this one, but I did find a marker in the roadway below.

photoMarker in the footpath below.
When I attempted to find this benchmark (and JS4547) I was unaware that it was atop the tower. I found this marker, thinking it might be the benchmark. I then spent about an hour trying to find JS4547. That'll teach me to do my research *before* I hit the road. :-(

All of these found because of a need to take a shortcut...

Benchmark is THE RED LIGHT ON TOP OF THE SOUTH TOWER OF THE WEST LIFT-SPAN OF THE M STREET BRIDGE. Bridge is now known as the Tower Bridge and M Street is now known as Capitol Mall and Folsom Blvd. (See JS4547)
