Recovered this mark while heading across the new span into Benicia.

Found this today. Could not get a picture on the bridge so took it from the shore.

Found while driving on the I680 Benicia Bridge. About as close as you can get.

It's been there for years didn't know it was lost.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1939 (RDH) THERE IS NO DESCRIPTION FOR THIS STATION OTHER THAN IMPLIED BY THE TITLE. STATION IS A REVOLVING AVIATION BEACON ON TOP OF THE SOUTHLIFT TOWER OF THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD BRIDGE AT MARTINEZ. IT IS ON THE CENTER LINE OF THE BRIDGE.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1941 (WDP) STATION IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE S TOWER OF THE LIFT SPAN ON THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD BRIDGE ACROSS CARCUINEZ STRAIT, BETWEEN ARMY POINT AND BULLS HEAD POINT. IT IS AN AVIATION BEACON ON TOP OF A SMALL STEEL FRAME STRUCTURE, ON TOP OF THE TOWER, ON LINE WITH THE CENTER LINE OF THE BRIDGE, AND ON THE S SIDE OF THE TOP OF THE TOWER. THIS IS AN INTERSECTION STATION.

THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 1 MILE SOUTHEAST OF BENICIA, ABOUT 1/4 MILE NORTHWEST OF BULLS HEAD POINT AND ON THE RAILROAD BRIDGE OVER CARQUINEZ STRAIT. THE STATION IS THE SPINDLE THAT SUPPORTS A RED ROTATING AERO BEACON. IT IS LOCATED ABOVE THE SOUTH PIER OF THE LIFT SPAN OF THE BRIDGE.

  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
