DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1964 1.4 MI NW FROM OCEAN CITY. 1.45 MILES NORTHWEST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 52 (9TH STREET IN OCEAN CITY) FROM THE CITY HALL IN OCEAN CITY, 0.55 MILE SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST END OF BRIDGE OVER SHIP CHANNEL, 0.2 MILE NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST END OF BRIDGE OVER RAINBOW CHANNEL, 39.6 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 26 FEET SOUTHEAST OF POWER POLE 8174, 91 FEET NORTHWEST OF LINE STA. DESCRIBED, ABOUT LEVEL WITH THE HIGHWAY AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. NOTE-- THIS BENCH MARK CAN ALSO BE REACHED BY GOING 0.35 MILE SOUTHWEST ALONG SHORE ROAD FROM THE CITY HALL AT SOMERS POINT, THENCE 0.95 MILE SOUTHEAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 52.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
