I'm not saying it's not there but I couldn't find it. As I'm rereading the directions though I may not have been looking in quite the right place.

As seventhings noted there is a benchmark in the War Memorial Park along Wesley Ave. between 5th and 6th Sts. We would have looked around there longer but we were starving and our food was ready at the chinese place.
I'm posting pics of the one at the War Memorial.

Did not have a chance to search for this mark - I'll get it on my next trip up. But I did find a mark that is in the NGS database but not in the Geocaching database 0.58 miles (as the crow flies) east of JU0368.

NJGS 5 C 2 2000, NJ is a New Jersey Geodetic Survey survey disk located in War Memorial Park along the southeast side of Wesley Avenue between E 5th Street and E 6th Street in Ocean City, Cape May County, NJ. The disk is mounted flush in a drill hole at the southwest corner of the concrete pad that supports a four-inch naval gun that serves as a memorial to the men who died aboard the battleship USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor. It is 58.4 feet southeast of the southeast curb of Wesley Avenue, 25.3 feet south-southeast from the southeast corner of an eight-foot stone and plaque that memorializes the citizens of Ocean City who served in World War I, and 41.0 feet north of the center flagpole of five flagpoles. The disk was monumented by the New Jersey Geodetic Survey in 2000, and it is stamped 5 C 2. It is in the National Geodetic Survey database at PID = AM6984. To reach from the intersection of State Route 52 (East 9th Street) and Wesley Avenue in downtown Ocean City, go northeast on Wesley Avenue for about 0.37 miles to the War Memorial Park, the gun and the disk on the right. Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
