Next time I am in OC I think I will call and make prior arrangements with the bank to see if they can take us to the mark. I doubt Mr. William Reid still works there so hopefully I don't have too much trouble. The bank is now called Crown Bank.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1932 (CDM) STATION IS LOCATED ON THE ROOF OF THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK BUILDING IN OCEAN CITY, N.J. THIS BUILDING IS THE HIGHEST AND MOST PROMINENT BUILDING IN OCEAN CITY, N.J. THE STATION IS 4 FEET E OF THE W COPING WALL AND 30 FEET S OF THE N COPING WALL. STATION AND REFERENCE MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE AS DESCRIBED IN NOTES 1A AND 11C. HEIGHT OF SIGNAL ABOVE STATION MARK - 2 METERS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 (BHR) THIS STATION WAS RECOVERED AND MARKS FOUND TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. IT WAS ALSO RECOVERED BY R.C. BOLSTAD IN 1935. STATION IS LOCATED ON ROOF OF FIRST NATIONAL BANK BUILDING NOW OWNED BY CHELSEA TITLE AND GUARANTY COMPANY IN OCEAN CITY.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1937 (LDG) THE STATION AND REFERENCE MARKS WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. IT IS ON THE ROOF OF THE LARGE GRAY BUILDING OF THE CHELSEA TITLE AND GUARANTY COMPANY AT THE CORNER SE OF ASBURY AVENUE AND SW OF EIGHTH STREET. IT IS NW OF THE CUPOLA, WHICH IS ON TOP OF THE ELEVATOR SHAFT, IS 4 FEET SE OF THE NW COPING WALL, AND IS 30 FEET SW OF THE NE COPING WALL. IT WAS RECOVERED BY R.C. BOLSTAD IN 1935 AND BY B.H. RIGG IN 1935.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1962 (VBM) THE STATION, REFERENCE MARKS 1 AND 2 WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE DISTANCE TO REFERENCE MARK 1 WAS FOUND TO BE .02 FOOT LONGER THAN THE PREVIOUS MEASUREMENT AND THE DIRECTION WAS 3 MINUTES AND 34 SECONDS SMALLER. THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 2 CHECKED BUT THE DISTANCE WAS FOUND TO BE .04 FOOT SHORTER. THE 1932 DESCRIPTION IS ADEQUATE EXCEPT FOR THE AZIMUTH MARK ESTABLISHED AT THIS TIME. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD AZIMUTH MARK DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE SOUTH CONCRETE CURBING AT THE EAST END OF THE WORLD WAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE. IT IS 18 FEET WEST OF THE BRIDGE MONUMENT, 22 FEET WEST OF THE EAST END OF THE BRIDGE AND 30 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE BRIDGE. THE DISK IS FLUSH AND IS STAMPED BANK 1932. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 1.17 METERS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NEW JERSEY GEODETIC SURVEY 1990 THE STATION IS LOCATED IN OCEAN CITY, ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE ROOF OF THE FIRST FIDELITY BANK BUILDING, A SIX STORY GRANITE BUILDING ON THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE JUNCTION OF ASBURY AVENUE AND 8TH STREET, ADDRESS 801 ASBURY AVENUE. THE STATION IS 3.0M NORTH OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE ELEVATOR HOUSE, 5.4 M (17.7 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE SAME STRUCTURE, 8.8 M (28.9 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE SOUTHWEST COPING WALL, 1.2 M (3.9 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHWEST COPING WALL AND PROJECTING 0.2 M (0.7 FT) ABOVE THE ROOF.   • The horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in May 1999.
  • The orthometric height was determined by GPS observations and a high-resolution geoid model.
  • The X, Y, and Z were computed from the position and the ellipsoidal ht.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The ellipsoidal height was determined by GPS observations and is referenced to NAD 83.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
