Returned 06/12/2008: still there, still good.

Found as described. The repair noted in the description is easily seen. Projection from the ground measured at 20 inches. Accompanied by a faded fiberglass placard stenciled MASON-DIXON, lying in the grass on the west side of the stone. Some of the orientation references are stale after 42 years, but updated get-to references are irrelevant. This mark may not be approached unless under escort and close control by Stine-Haskell Research Center security personnel, and they know how to get to all the marks on the facility. DuPont (parent of Stine-Haskell) does a superb job protecting the several 1765, 1849 and 1961 marks on their property.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1992.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
