Since this is within walking distance from my house, other finders' descriptions made me sure I had a pretty good idea where to look. The remains of a foundation gave it away. In fact,as i drive by it every day,I refer to it as Swearman's Stairs,as that was the most recent owner.I used to see Mr.Swearman sitting on a chair on his front porch.
The disc, survey marker and ReferenceMark JV2078 are East of the foundation and, according to the Private Property sign, are actually on land previously owned by Johnny Dick but not close enuf to the house to worry about 'muggles'.
Once vegetation begins to grow, these may be a little harder to spot.
ReferenceMark JV2076 is across Rt.234 and can't be missed.

Out benchmarking today with Ghosthunter, this is one of several we looked at. Appears to be in fine condition.

Recovered in good condition - it was getting dark, so I had trouble getting decent photos...did not have time to look for the reference marks.

I found this BM without any problems. I was also
able to complete the series, finding both reference marks and the azimuth mark.

Greetings Geocachers/Benchmarkers,

I found this triangulation station disk with no difficulty. It’s as described, exactly where it’s supposed to be. The house mentioned in the description is now nothing but the remnants of a foundation. There is safe parking at this location, out of harm’s way. The metal witness post is in place, in a rock, as described, with the station mark just to the north, quite exposed.

Happy Benchmarking,
Ghosthunter

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1992.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
