Was caching with SgtMikal, but got my own account. Now I am claiming this one, as I was riding by today and saw it again. Pictures with his log.

Found on my birthday while doing a puzzle cache with my brother.

My first benchmark.

Found the BM, but missed the nearby cache. I'll be around for it again sometime.

Found after doing that Yada cache that is nearby.

used to live a block from it and never knew it was there!

Found after Yada Yada Yada #4.

Still in good shape. Right where it should be.

Drove By While Going To Parlor House. Didn't Realize What That Concrete Was Until I Started Geocaching.

Found, Thanks to shorbird.

Found this one based on the pics provided by other hunters (did not use GPS). Had Jr Mikal #1 as well as Jr Mikal #2 with me, but only one of them was excited about it...LOL!

Coord 39 45.076N 77 35.116W Ele 658 Dated 1942. Walk by this a few times a week when I take the dog out. Decided to look it up here. I see someone else left coord too. Maybe we can update it on the listing?

The mark is in good condition at N 39° 45.073 W 077° 35.117.

The spray paint previously referred to (C 156) is the disk designation. I suspect it was placed there as an identifier during construction of 337 S. Potomac St. The auction referred to by seventhings was razed and is now storage unit facility.

Found this one today which was easy but one concern that I have is that the signal has been removed a while ago and from the looks of it the city has decided to have the base removed because there has been an official looking pink number sprayed on the base itself. So it may not be there much longer.

Used to have a friend that lived just a few blocks away. We used to look at this thing all the time when we were in middle/high school. Now I get to log it on here!

Greetings Geocachers/Benchmarkers,

I found this benchmark disk with no difficulty. It’s as described by S.M.A.K. and seventhing. Coordinates as well as the directions provided by seventhing are more than adequate for recovery. You won’t miss this one!

Happy Benchmarking,

Found easily thanks to the updated description from seventhings.

This is our first benchmark. Found it after a hard day of caching. Found in good shape.

Found in good condition, but with modification to the description and to reach instructions. The station is located 0.48 miles southwest along state highway 316 (Potomac Street) from the intersection of state highway 316 and state highway 16 in Waynesboro, Franklin County, PA. The disk is mounted in the disused concrete foundation for a railway signal light. The railway is no longer in existence, and the concrete block is now on the front lawn of a one-story brick building at 337 Potomac Street. The disk is mounted in the top of the concrete block and about three feet above the road. It lies about 18 feet northeast of utility pole 400Z300-1, about 10 feet southeast of the curb on the southeast side of Potomac Street, and almost directly across Potomac Street from the southeastern terminus of a side road, Madison Ave, heading northwest. To reach from the intersection of state highway 316 and state highway 16 in downtown Waynesboro, go southwest on state highway 316 for 0.48 miles to Madison Ave on the right and the station on the left. The referenced Western Maryland Railway is long gone, but you can see the old bed heading north on the northwest side of the road, and serving as a parking area for a large auction warehouse. The disk is in excellent condition. Handheld coords are N39-45.075 W077-35.117.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
