From the intersection of MD117 (Clopper Rd) and MD119 (Great Seneca Hwy), follow MD117 East for .5mi to the intersection of MD117 (Clopper Rd) and Mateny Rd. Continue east for .25mi to concrete culvert over Gunners Branch and the station on the left.
Station is a small disk with rounded center, located on the north side of the west headwall, north of the centerline of the road and west of the branch.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1989 2.05 KM (1.27 MI) SOUTHEAST ALONG STATE ROUTE 117 FROM THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 118 IN OLD GERMANTOWN TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT, SET IN THE NORTH END OF THE EAST HEADWALL OF A DOUBLE BOX CULVERT, 5.2 M (17 FT) EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 0.2 M (0.6 FT) SOUTH OF THE NORTH END OF THE HEADWALL, 0.22 M (0.75 FT) NORTH OF THE EAST GRARD RAIL ON THE HEADWALL, AND ABOUT 0.5 M (1.5 FT) ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
