Springfield High School on a very dark day. Just as I took this picture, two police cruisers from the Illinois Secretary of State police department pulled up to me, took my ID and license and ran them and questioned me on why I was taking pictures in the area on such a gloomy day. They even looked up the GC.com page to see if what I was telling them was a total tall tale. Hard to explain this hobby to some people.

Springfield, IL, High School stack.

Who'd have thought that a chimney would be one of the more-photographed benchmarks in the area? While I was waiting at a stoplight, I saw this "2 for 1" shot of the Springfield High stack almost lined up with benchmark KB1488, the Illinois State Capitol dome. The dome's flag is at half-staff in observance of the funeral of President Ford.
