First disk of this type I've seen. The stamping reads 'ELEV 826' above the scribed line, and 'MAX TOP RAIL' below the line.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1948 2.2 MI N FROM ST JOSEPH. 2.2 MILES NORTH ALONG THE CHICAGO, BURLINGTON AND QUINCY RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT ST. JOSEPH, AT THE OVERHEAD BRIDGE OF COUNTY ROAD 00, SET VERTICALLY IN THE WEST FACE OF THE CENTER PILLAR OF THE MOST EASTERLY ROW OF THREE PILLARS AT THE EAST END OF THE BRIDGE, 12.0 FEET EAST OF THE EAST RAIL OF THE MOST EASTERLY TRACK, 2.5 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, 2.2 FEET NORTH OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER AND 0.8 FOOT SOUTH OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE PILLAR.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
