Logging this a little late, just found the pictures tucked away in my files. All is good at the mark.

Visiting a cache across the street. Wanted to log this at the same time.

2nd BM we scored today while out caching. It's in good condition. Happy New Year all!

Benchmark is in better shape than the witness post.

Discovered this one near a geocache.

Found this one at the same time I found my first geocache. Didn't know how to log benchmarks then so am logging it now.

If only they were all this easy... found in good condition.

My first benchmark that I get to log!!! Found this one after finding a few geocaches with Gatita Loco today.

Discovered in good condition after grabbing the nearby geocache.

There is some work nearby installing a gas line. Couldn't do the nearby cache due to trucks parked.

Easy one using coords that other finders have posted.

This one is real easy, but we forgot the coords for the nearby cache. Oh well.... there's always next time for the cache.

This one was super easy! Unfortunately, we did not have the nearby geocache in our GPSs, so we'll have to get that another time.

Found or rather stumbled upon this benchmark while looking for a Geocache in the area. I love little surprises!

Out caching on V-day with Gatita Loco. Found this across the street from a cache we were hunting. TFTC SL

My first benchmark, about .44 miles from home. Same side of Bar-X as the Geocache, Chequamegon's coords of N39° 04.268 W104° 40.340 +/-10ft (below) were dead-on.

This benchmark is our first. No sure yet what the draw is to these fellas, but it was cool to find one in corrilation to the cache we found accross the street.

I parked beside it to grab a cache.
I left some marks in the snow.

Parked next to the BM and walked across the street to log the geocache (Belong Here? #2)

It helps when there is a geocache across the street that points it out.

Nice one...

Easy find even though the GPSr was still saying 220 feet.

On the way to my dad's house.

My first Benchmark and it is only .4 miles from my house. It is hard to believe the changes that happened. When this was placed, Eastonville was a growing city. Wow, one flood and the town all but disappear.

Found easily.

Found in good cond.

Right at the intersection of Hodgen and Bar-X
road, in Black Forest, Colorado. I used to
live just about two miles due north of here.
Perfect condition, easy to find. Just park the
car and there you are. Southwest corner of
the intersection.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
