Discovered this BM while walking around the Union Station.

On a nice walk with sister, her hubby, & ParkerSaru. Waited for Snooze patrons to finish came of corn hole before stepping close to building to get a shot of this benchmark. Found all 3 here and the meridian line. Amazing what they have done to make this depot more usable for today's needs.

Great day at the Union Station

Found while touring Denver, mostly on foot

In town for NCAA Basketball and figured I would do a bit of benchmarking as well.

The mark is still in good condition.

Found this one 3rd.  Didn't realize it was here until I saw the second and thought "Hey, if there are two, perhaps there are three!"  And now that I check Geocaching, there they all are!

Although this BM has a new name according to the newest NGS Datasheets (5186 = X 1 Reset), this is the same BM all the other loggers have found. We found it too.

Stopped by while in town for a conference.

So many benchmarks around. :-) It easy to find them all.

Cool station. Found while attending two conferences in Denver - Geological Society of America and National Collegiate Honors Council, 2007. Shout out to Penn State Brandywine!

Had a little caching to do in town and spotted this as a added bonus. Still in great shape.

Found as described in good shape.

Hard to see the dark disk in the dark wall, but it's at dead-center.

easy find

easy find in good condition. surprised nobody else logged this one, as it is right next to kk0352 and kk0353. GPS readings are unreliable this close to a large building.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in 1992. * This is a POSTED BENCH MARK height. Code E indicates a distribution rate of 4.1 thru 8.0 mm/km.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
