Discovered this BM while walking around the Union Station.

On a nice walk with sister, her hubby, & ParkerSaru. Took some looking to find this one. Used prior finders photos for clues. Found all 3 here and the meridian line. Amazing what they have done to make this depot more usable for today's needs.

Mark is relatively easy to find once you get oriented to the doorway patterns from the original description, versus how they look today.

Found when I arrived at Amtrak Denver. To attend Geowoodstock 14er.

Found while touring Denver, mostly on foot

In town for NCAA Basketball and figured I would do a bit of benchmarking as well.

The mark is still in good condition.

Just realized that the camera focussed on the GPSr, not the benchmark.   Oops.  Well, now you know where I was going after I found this.

Found it. #7 today. Interestingly, there seems to be a missing BM about 5 feet north of this one. Anyone else agree?

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in 1992. * This is a POSTED BENCH MARK height. Code E indicates a distribution rate of 4.1 thru 8.0 mm/km.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
