17:15 Could not find the marker. I did find a concrete slab on the south side of the current wing wall, in about the place described in the 1939 NGS documented history. I swept away all the dirt and dead leafs away but still nothing. I did find a bronze rivit on the north side of the bridge about 10 feet east of the retaining wall which I maked at N 39* 45.304' W 105* 00.441 at about 31' accuracy.

The 15th Street bridge has been replaced since the location was described in 1939. The mark is presumed destroyed.

Report submitted to the NGS.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in 1992. No vertical observational check was made to the station. * This is a POSTED BENCH MARK height. Code NC indicates the bench mark was located on a no-check spur therefore a value was not computed.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
