Found when I arrived at Amtrak Denver. To attend Geowoodstock 14er.

Found it when in the area. It is on the base of the tower north of the pedestrian bridge, river side. It may need some cleaning.

Found while touring Denver, mostly on foot

In town for NCAA Basketball and figured I would do a bit of benchmarking as well.

The mark is still in good condition although far from its reported location. Wister6813's report is very accurate and complete so I won't post my photos or coordinates since they're basically the same.

The mark is located on the foundation of the second power pylon north of 15th Street, about 250 feet north of the 16th Street pedestrian bridge over the South Platte River. The disk is set in the top of the southwest corner of the foundation for pylon 169290Z. A NGS witness sticker is affixed to the east face of the pylon.

Report submitted to the NGS.

The previous find is local BM 485, which is located on the first pylon north of the 15th St bridge. This is not the same as KK2113.

13:11 Looked for this one at coordinates but found it far off. Actual coordinates were N 39* 45.303 W 105* 00.431 using a Garmin ETrex with 17ft accuracy showing. (see pics)

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1991 IN DENVER, ON THE EASTERN SHORE OF THE PLATTE RIVER, BETWEEN THE 16TH STREET AND 19TH STREET BRIDGES, 55.0 FT (16.76 M) SOUTHEAST OF THE EASTERN SHORE OF THE PLATTE RIVER, 28.0 FT (8.53 M) NORTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF GRINNELL COURT, 5.2 FT (1.58 M) SOUTHWEST OF SURVEY DISK MDSDD NO 1 BM DG1, 5.0 FT (1.52 M) WEST OF A WITNESS POST, SET IN THE TOP OF A 7- BY 7-FOOT CONCRETE FOUNDATION FOR A LARGE POWER PYLON.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
