Found as described by Me & Bucky, and about 19 feet west of the barbed- and hog-wire right of way fence, about 16 feet north of the south edge of the outcropping, and about four feet south of the north edge of the outcropping. Handheld coordinates are N39-56.906 W108-53.111.

Bench Mark S 151 was recovered in good condition.

A new To Reach follows: South from Rangely Colorado for 11.7 miles on Rio Blanco County Road 23 to the station on the right; mark is 96 feet north-northwest of a cattleguard and 105 feet north of BLM road to the Carrot Man Site.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
