Bench Mark C 26 was recovered in good condition. It was as described, except the dismantled railroad is no longer visible. It is 94 feet northwest of an electric pole numbered V04842. The gulch is the same drainage as the drain at the road crossing.

DESCRIBED BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1966 19.8 MI S FROM BONANZA. 19.8 MILES SOUTH ALONG THE BAXTER PASS ROAD (STATE HWY. 45) FROM BONANZA, UINTAH COUNTY, ABOUT 2.3 MILES NORTHWEST OF A SIGN DESIGNATION THE LOCATION OF THE FORMER TOWN OF DRAGON, ABOUT 155 FEET SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF A DISMENTLED RAILROAD, ABOUT 450 FEET NORTHEAST OF DRAIN AT ROAD CROSSING, ON EAST BANK OF A GULCH, IN THE TOP OF A SANDSTONE LEDGE.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
