From the intersection of Colorado Highway 13 and Piceance Creek Road (Rio Blanco County Road 5) in Rio Blanco Colorado, proceed west on County Road 5 17.8 miles to a paved road (Rio Blanco County Road 3), thence right 4.8 miles to a T-road, thence right 0.3 mile to a graded road, thence right 0.1 mile to a track road, thence right 0.1 mile to the station on the right.

MAGNOLIA RM1 and RM2 were also recovered in good condition.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1937 (FGJ) STATION IS LOCATED ON A HIGH, BARE RIDGE ON THE DIVIDE BETWEEN PICEANCE CREEK AND THE WHITE RIVER, ON THE PROPERTY LEASED BY THE MAGNOLIA OIL COMPANY. IT IS 13.5 MILES W AND 11.0 MILES N OF THE RIO BLANCO POST OFFICE, AND 0.25 MILE SE OF THE MAGNOLIA OIL COMPANY BUNKHOUSES AND STORAGE SHEDS. SURFACE, UNDERGROUND, REFERENCE, AND AZIMUTH MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE. TO REACH FROM THE RIO BLANCO POST OFFICE, WHICH IS 18.8 MILES N OF RIFLE, AND ABOUT 23.0 MILES S OF MEEKER, ON STATE HIGHWAY 13, GO 0.2 MILE N ON HIGHWAY 13 TO THE RIO BLANCO STORE. TURN LEFT AND GO W ON THE PICEANCE CREEK ROAD 16.6 MILES TO A SCHOOLHOUSE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. CONTINUE ON THE MAIN ROAD 1.1 MILES TO AN OIL DRUM MAIL BOX AND A SIGN PRIVATE ROAD, YOU DRIVE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AT THE MOUTH OF A WASH. TURN RIGHT AND GO N UP THE BED OF THE WASH 3.55 MILES TO A POINT WHERE THE ROAD LEAVES THE WASH AND FOLLOWS UP THE LEFT BANK. FOLLOW THE MAIN TRAVELED ROAD UP THE LEFT BANK TO THE TOP OF THE RIDGE AND A ROW OF BUNKHOUSES AND STORAGE SHEDS. FROM HERE THERE ARE TWO ROADS. ONE E AND ONE SE. TAKE THE ROAD SE, ALONG TWO PIPE LINES, 0.25 MILE TO THE TOP OF THE HILL AND STATION NEAR A TWO-INCH IRON PIPE STAKE WHICH IS ABOUT 100 FEET N OF THE ROAD. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS IN THE SW CORNER OF THE CLEARING WHERE THE BUNKHOUSES ARE, AND ABOUT 50 YARDS FROM THE SOUTHERN BUNKHOUSE.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
