Together with Dingo79 I found this benchmark :-)

Together with Miela78 I had a really interesting journey. We could even find some geocaches and benchmarks like this one.
Concerning this benchmark we had much fun in finding which was not so difficult ;-) The benchmark made our journey even more interesting and with its help we had the chance to discover the surroundings in a more interesting way!

Seen while walking through Central Park.

First try:

Second try:
Quite simply searched, found, finished ...

And now again right:
On our way from Leipzig on vacation to New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Cleveland, Toledo, Chicago, Sioux City, Badlands NP, Mount Rushmore, Bighorn Mountains, Cody, Yellowstone NP, Jackson, Grand Teton NP, Salt Lake City, Bryce Canyon NP, Lake Powell, Grand Canyon, Williams, Las Vegas, Mojave Desert, Los Angeles, Visalia, Yosemite NP, Modesto and San Francisco we came right here. Of course, we also wanted this one GeoCache / Benchmark on the To-Do list to pick up. And now there is a smiling face. There were no problems ... Yes, the destination fits. Thus: the end is good, all right ...

In other words:
Everything is there, where it belongs, undamaged and waiting for the next visitors.

Now we like to say:
Thank you for your GeoCache / Benchmark and another smiley on our map.

Found during my stay in NY...

Was out walking around the city this morning. Decided to log a few benchmarks along the way, This building is the home of the Sherry Nederland Hotel at the corner of 59th Street & 5th Avenue. The building appears to be in good shape. Hard to get a good angle on the building due to the surrounding streets but was able to get a couple off. See attached photos.

Took a walk to Central Park on my lunch break today to grab a couple of benchmarks and drop off a TB at Snug as a Bug. This really is a beautiful building...wish it had been nicer out today so I could have gotten a better picture. I will have to come back soon.....

Found on last two visits to NYC

We saw this benchmark several times today and managed to get a photo of the location from the 86th floor observatory. Not a great photo of the benchmark but puts the location in perspective.

photoKU4000 MANHATTAN NR SE CEN PK T BLDG, Manhattan
And today's pic.

Stopped to see this building on the way back from a seminar.

Found.

This was a long shot. I didn't look here on Geocaching.com (that would spoil the fun) but just looked at the NGS datasheet. "A TALL BUILDING NEAR THE SE CORNER OF CENTRAL PARK". That has to be the most cryptic description I had ever seen.

I plotted the coordinates on Toposzone and found it was on the east side of Fifth Avenue between 59th and 60th. I assumed I would find an ugly glass and steel high rise there with the original building long gone. When I got there, there was a beautiful old building. But not just any beautiful old building, the Sherry Netherlad Hotel! "A TALL BUILDING NEAR THE SE CORNER OF CENTRAL PARK" indeed! This is one of the masterpieces of architecture of the early 20th century.

Check this web site: http://www.nyc-architecture.com/UES/UES007.htm

The site is of "New York Architecture Images" The photos on that site are spectacular. The building was built in 1927 and the top of the spire is 576 feet above the ground. Check it out when you're in town.
