Unfortunately, the scaled location of this mark put it on the same side of CR 611 as the abandoned Greendell station, almost at the station. The mark is in fact across the road from the station, about 650 feet down the right of way to the west. The GPS coordinates were 912 feet from the scaled coordinates on the datasheet. The highway overpass mentioned in the description is the overpass carrying Henry Road.

Once you are oriented properly, it is easy to spot on your right as you walk from Greendell station. There is a shallow drainage ditch between the rail bed and the signal base.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
