BPOE Lodge is now the Somerset Public Library.

#17 BM. Well was going by here , so i stopped to check. BM is still in poor condition with half missing :(

The monument is fairly high above ground (several inches, never-the-less, this one took it one the chin!)
photoFurther back
Same angle as before. Still the same =P

This benchmark is not in good condition. More than half of it is missing, probably by errant lawn mowing as the monument is now flush with the ground. The building on whose grounds it lies is not the B.P.O.E. lodge building, as had originally been reported, but is now the Somerville public library.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
