Nice boulder, what else is there to say? There are only a couple of places along CR 512 nearby where a boulder could be about 3 feet higher than the highway. The station is about 145 feet away from the scaled coordinates in the datasheet. I added a waypoint for the actual location.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 5 MI S FROM CALIFON. 5 MILES EAST ALONG A MACADAM ROAD FROM THE CENTRAL RAILROAD OF NEW JERSEY STATION CALIFON, HUNTERDON COUNTY, 157.8 FEET EAST OF THE EAST END OF A GUARDRAIL, 22.4 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, 16.7 FEET WEST OF THE WEST END OF ANOTHER GUARDRAIL, IN THE TOP OF A BOULDER, AND ABOUT 3 FEET HIGHER THAN THE ROAD.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
