Found by description. Hidden under pipe.

This one is hidden by the pipeline running along the bridge. It would be easy to mistake the new NJ 27791 mark instead of the correct D 30 marks. The new NJ 27791 mark is in the north wingwall of the SE end of the bridge, the D 30 mark is in the south wingwall of the SE end of the bridge, partly obscured by the pipeline.

The new NJ 27791 is in the north wingwall at the same SE end of the bridge as D30.

Mark was exactly where it was placed :D There is a pipe covering it now. But I was able to read the designation to verify.

Looking carefully, you can read the D 30 designation and the 1942. Shot taken at a sharp angle due to pipe.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 AT POTTERSVILLE. AT POTTERSVILLE, SOMERSET COUNTY, AT THE CONCRETE BRIDGE BETWEEN SOMERSET AND HUNTERDON COUNTIES, IN THE SOUTH WING WALL AT THE SOUTHEAST END OF THE BRIDGE, 45.3 FEET WEST OF A GRASSY PLOT OF GROUND IN THE MIDDLE OF TWO ROADS, 19.8 FEET SOUTH WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A ROAD, AND ABOUT LEVEL WITH THE ROAD.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
