The house is gone but it is easy to see where it was, although measuring from it was difficult. I swept with a metal detector after pacing off measurements from the house and the two roads.

found it. thanks for the clues chuck. gotta keep an eye on the traffic when looking for this one.

The area has been graded and seeded with lawn. The house has been torn down, though what appears to be its former location is a raised flat area. It is at the intersection of Sofianos Rd. & Hartman Rd.

photoWhere it should be
Note the raised area near the "barn" where the house may have once stood. I measured in the proper direction from the "corner" of the "house" and only found some old broken blacktop when I scratched the surface of the lawn.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
