IT IS IN THE SE CORNER OF THE ORCHARD ABOUT 220 FEET E OF STATE HIGHWAY 563, 175 FEET S OF AN E-AND-W ROAD AND ABOUT 150 FEET SE OF MR. GEISELS BARN. IT PROJECTS ABOUT 6 INCHES AND IS STAMPED ELEPHANT 1942. SURFACE, UNDERGROUND, AND REFERENCE MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE, AS DESCRIBED. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS LOCATED NE OF THE STATION AT THE E EDGE OF THE ORCHARD PLOT. IT PROJECTS ABOUT 6 INCHES AND IS STAMPED ELEPHANT NO. 1 1942. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS LOCATED NW OF THE STATION ALONGISDE A SMALL SHED AT THE SE EDGE OF THE BARN LOT. IT PROJECTS ABOUT 6 INCHES AND IS STAMPED ELEPHANT NO. 2 1942. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS LOCATED 0.35 MILE BY ROAD SW OF THE STATION ON THE W SIDE OF STATE HIGHWAY 563. IT IS 72 FEET S OF THE SECOND TELEPHONE POLE S OF A POWER LINE CORNER POLE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT IS DIRECTLY UNDER THE TELEPHONE LINE AND 17 FEET W OF THE CENTER OF HIGHWAY 563. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE VILLAGE OF HARROW AT THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 611 AND STATE HIGHWAY 563, GO WESTERLY ON STATE HIGHWAY 563 FOR 6.5 MILES TO THE ELEPHANT INN ON THE LEFT AND THE STATION AS DESCRIBED. A 50-FOOT TOWER WILL SEE AN 87-FOOT LIGHT AT HILLTOWN. A 37-FOOT TOWER WILL SEE A 50-FOOT LIGHT AT HAYCOCK 2 1929. A 37-FOOT TOWER WILL SEE AN 87-FOOT LIGHT AT GROSS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 (PLB) STATION, REFERENCE, AND AZIMUTH MARKS RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED, AND FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION EXCEPT THAT THE DISTANCES TO THE REFERENCE MARKS WERE INTERCHANGED. ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION ADEQUATE. A 77-FOOT TOWER REQUIRED TO CLEAR ALL LINES.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1999.
  • The orthometric height was scaled from a topographic map.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
