I was out hunting Going Below Falling Waters cache nearby, and decided to give this one a try. I parked on Blue Road, and followed the GPS through a maze of trails, dirt roads, and ATV trails. About a three-mile round trip hike, with 400 feet of climb. With the trails, it wasn't too bad. The lower portion is posted by Longwood Lake Association. Near the top of Green Pond Mountain, the land is posted by New Jersey Department of Conservation. I saw no Picatinny Arsenal signs. In fact, all the maps show the station as being outside the Arsenal.
The area is heavily wooded, so I disagree with New Jersey Geodetic Survey's assessment of it being suitable for satellite observation.
What I did not see were any powerlines. Those must be long gone.
The ridge is rough rock boulders typical of Green Pond Mountain. I worked from the oak with the triangular blaze (what remains of it). Found disk and both reference marks fairly easily.
