Nice

nice hill side

Soggy day for benchmark hunting, but went for it anyway. For some reason my "setting" photo didn't save, but the one that counts - the close up - came out great even in the rain. Marker and post are in fine shape!!

Greetings Geocachers/Benchmarkers,

I found this benchmark disk with no difficult. It’s exactly where it’s supposed to be along Rt. 233 as show in my enhanced photograph as well as the photographs of others. Coordinates provided by Ernmark and directions are adequate for recovery.

Recovered in good condition..

Note: mark is in area between poles #54 & #55 - "woods road leasing southwest" has been all but obliterated. Also, the mark is north of the current marked boundary between Penn & Cooke Townships (USGS 7.5" quad puts boundary to north)

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
