WOW -- Eight years since this was last visited?!? Still in fantastic shape, and I spotted it right away as the leaves had fortunately NOT covered it up and it was quite visible. Nice time of the year to be in the woods!

Not to hard to find in the summer, either!

found this on easily

Rather easy until the foliage thickens the area.

Other than not being able to read the disk, this one is a drive by (at least until the foliage springs up).

Greetings Geocachers/Benchmarkers,

I found this concrete monument mount benchmark with no difficulty. It’s as described, exactly where it’s supposed to be, a bit in the woods, at Coons Road and Pine Grove Furnace Road, a few inches above the surface. There is pink engineering tape marking the monument, and the benchmark is pale green in color. It was almost dark when I was there, but I didn’t see the witness post.

Happy Benchmarking,

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
