Found BM and ref. disks in excellent condition, although the witness post won't last much longer.
||Ernmark found KW2850
Recovered in good condition along w/ RM1 & RM2 - quickly swept suspected location of azimuth mark w/ cheap metal detector, but was getting dark - will have to return...

The station mark and both reference marks were easily recovered as described. We were not able to find the azimuth mark, though we did search for it. Perhaps another trip will do the trick

I found this benchmark with little difficulty. It’s as described by Daclaren, exactly where it’s supposed to be. gnbrotz and I were able recover RM 1 and RM 2, but were unable to recover the associated azimuth mark to the SW.

Found the station mark and both reference marks
||Daclaren found KW2850
Recovered the triangulation station and reference marks in good condition. The reference marks, set in concrete, are in the grass bordering Ridge Road and are visible from the road. The triangulation station is also set in concrete but is located in some dense brush. It was barely visible from the grass at the side of the road (looking into the brush) and took a bit of bushwhacking to access. The witness post for the station is still there, but the paint has worn off and the post is now brown (see photos). We didn't recover the azimuth mark but will try to find it at a later time.
(This was our 50th benchmark find.)

|RECOVERY NOTE BY US ARMY MAP SERVICE (NOW DMA) 1952
THE STATION, A STANDARD USC AND GS BRONZE TRIANGULATION DISC, SET IN THE TOP OF A 1 FOOT SQUARE CONCRETE POST, PROJECTING 4 INCHES, WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED. BOTH REFERENCE MARKS WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED.
THE AZIMUTH WAS NOT RECOVERED. AN ANT HILL, 2-1/2 TO A FEET HIGH IS COVERING THE ROCK AND DRILL HOLE.
THE STATION IS LOCATED IN DENSE BRUSH, 35 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD. NO PHOTO-IDENTIFIABLE OBJECTS NEAR.
- The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in April 1998.
- The orthometric height was scaled from a topographic map.
- The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
- The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
